The following lecture was delivered as part of the Centre’s Occasional Lecture Program:
Ananta Kumar Giri, the faculty member at Madras Institute of Development Studies, Chennai delivered a talk on “Knowledge and Human Liberation: Towards Planetary Realizations" which is the subject of his recent book of the same name on Tuesday, 3 September, 2013 at the Centre for Contemporary Theory. He drew attention to the concept of liberation with a spur to rethink the relationship shared between knowledge and human by drawing from diverse thinkers like Sri Aurobindo, Habermas, Kant, Tocqueville, Gandhi, Foucault and others. He hinted towards the autonomy of self. Although the process of achieving it is a multidimensional struggle, the realization would take humans nearer to mother Earth and the bigger family of planet consists of other beings and companions species.
