Professor Paget Henry, Professor of Sociology and Africana Studies from Brown University , Providence , Rhode Island , USA gave a talk on the topic Sri Aurobindo from the Perspective of Caribbean Philosophy” on December 16, 2011 at 4.00 pm. He focused on how in the Caribbean, the dialogue with India has moved along four basic questions: 1) Can caste be a metaphor for race? 2) Can Indian spirituality enrich Afro-Christian Spirituality? 3) What is the relation between negritude and coolitude? 4) How can Indo-Caribbeans and Afro-Caribbeans live together? The talk located Aurobindo in this dialogue and his contributions to the second of these questions: Can Indian spirituality enrich Afro-Caribbean spirituality?
